Global all-streetlights globe: feasibility page
This is the PR-stunt concept, not the core MVP. The honest version is a globe of mapped streetlights and night-light context, with clear caveats.
Why not claim “every streetlight”?
OSM street-lamp data is strong in some regions and sparse in others. VIIRS night lights are global but measure all light emissions, not individual lamps. A literal global census would be misleading.
Best future version
A MapLibre/deck.gl globe that shows mapped OSM street lamps, UK council open-data inventories and night-light background layers. Every layer should be labelled as mapped/open-data coverage.
